Gregory Heritage served 21 years in the U.S. Army advancing from the rank Private First Class to Lieutenant Colonel. In the United States, he served in the 1st and 3rd Ranger Battalions and as a Plans Officer for the 75th Ranger Regiment Headquarters. Eventually while stationed in the United States, he served as a Plans Officer for the U.S. First Corps. In Germany, he served in the 1st Infantry Division. In Italy, he served in the 1/509th Airborne Battalion Combat Team. In Korea, he served in the 2nd Infantry Division and as Operations Officer for the United Nations Command Security Force in the Joint Security Area (Panmunjom). Eventually in Korea, he served as the Chief of Contingency Plans for the Eighth U.S. Army and United Nations Command. In Cuba, he served as the Executive Officer of the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment. His final assignment was as a Joint Doctrine Planner on the U.S. Joint Staff in Washington, D.C., which is the staff for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS).
